LITTLE WEIGHTON

Prior to the Parish Council meeting commencing, National Grid representatives gave a presentation on the proposed transmission line. This is to reinforce the high voltage electricity transmission network between a new substation at Creyke Beck, to the north of Hull, and a new substation at High Marnham in Nottinghamshire.   11 Members of the public present.

126/23 – LITTLE WEIGHTON PLAYING FIELDS

Issues raised regarding the Playing Fields & agree actions:

  • Small Container appearance – It was agreed that the small container should be removed.  Scrap Merchant to be contacted. Goods from Container to be moved to the Storage Cupboard.
  • Playing Field Questionnaire Results – Circulated. Agreed that this will be discussed at the October Meeting of the Council and the results will be printed in the Autumn Newsletter.
  • Changing Room repairs update – Toilet Seats/Holders replaced, doors painted to the Store cupboard.  Changing Room Doors to be completed in the coming weeks and the External Toilet Door.
  • Equipment update – Waiting for one further Springer Quotation prior to applying for grants.

The Cableway (Zipwire) cable has frayed.  Seat has been removed by Handyman to prevent any accidents/further damage. The Clerk has contacted the Manufacturer/Supplier for repair quotation.

  • Football Team update – St Mary’s Football club will not be Playing this season at Little Weighton.    The Veterans will be the only team playing 2023/24 season.

Archaeological surveys have commenced in the Bentley area by RWE Renewables and Hornsea 4.

Stoneledge –  Reports of the Stoneledge lorries driving along Riplingham Road, Rowley on a regular basis before 7am, some around 6.20-6.30am.  Letter to Stoneledge along with a reminder of the new and reduced speed limit of 50mph on Riplingham Road.

Ashcourt – No issue.

ERYCCommunity Governance Review – Proposal of Councillor reduction from 11 to 7 to take place 2028. RESOLVED – That the Council agreed that the current number of Councillors should be retained, due to the large geographical area Rowley Parish covers.  The Parish is currently well represented from all areas, Bentley, Riplingham, & Little Weighton. Fewer Councillors will have to share the burden of the whole parish.
ERYCEnhanced Bus Partnership Event – 13th October 2023 (Bishop Burton) – NOTED – Councillor A Woodall will check availability to attend.
South Cave Football TeamA thank you received for using facility.  Donations received. RESOLVED – Payments of £113 (Under 11’s) received from South Cave Football Team.  £150 also to be sent (Under 8’s)

  4. External payroll provider. Phoenix Accountancy & Business Consultancy Limited now have all documentation to progress Payroll wef end of September 2023.

132/23 WARD COUNCILLORS REPORT

Councillor Mrs Gill reported on the recent RAAC Concrete issue affecting Schools In the UK.  No reported school buildings have been highlighted in the East Riding.

            Councillor Gill also advised that she is a member of the following Committees:

            Fire Authority. Health & Wellbeing, Licensing.

Councillor Meredith also reported on the RAAC and advised that all Leisure centres/Library buildings are all good and no reports of any issues.  A sample may take place of Council houses in all areas.

An increase in Poaching in the area has been reported.

The Jocks Lodge improvement works – Significant increase in cost of Materials which will change some of the existing plan.

133/23 HIGHWAYS

  1. Councillor Elvidge had asked the Council to consider Mirror at the Bentley Junction when turning right from Cottingham into the Village.   Although not classed as Street Furniture, the Clerk will seek further advice from the East Riding Highways Officer.
  • Smiling Sid’s (Speed Indicator Devices) – presented and discussed.  RESOLVED – That the road safety officer for the SIDS be contacted to see if he would carry out a survey for further discussion and agreement with Council.  
  • Speed Bumps on Green Lane are quite deep in areas – Contact ERYC Highways Officer to see if any works can be carried out.

134/23 GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

            Handyman Advised:

To remove overgrown soil around Play Area, (Surface Matting)

            Strimming around the Spectator fence and Goal Nets to be carried out.
